The Solution: Liberate the Future

Next September, the trial against 47 Basque citizens will be initiated, having to face a request from the fiscal, whose sum reaches 601 years of imprisonment.
Having to face a such serious event as this, we would like to point out the following:

That the trial that aims to punish these 47 people and their work, it is now the same as before, out of place and time, against the wishes of peace and justice
of the Basque citizenship.

The Basque society wants to advance and to face the future with the best guarantees, it is necessary to close the wounds and resolve the links of the past.

We must not invent new chains and we do not want new links that tighten us even more. We do not need stones in the way and we do not want new wounds to be opened and more pain to be generated. Without any doubt, our people look forward to the solutions, they want to go ahead and we are not willing to accept situations that will take us backwards.

The coexistence, the peace and the justice are precious treasures for any society, also for ours. We must respond to that desire of the Basque Society and stop the processes created and invented in the framework of a logic of conflict, so that they do not contaminate the present we are building.

We want to build a new society, and we are convinced that the values and sensibility regarding the forged fundamental rights during these years, are the base on which to build the same: The respect for all people human rights, the collective rights, the solidarity, the empathy and the coexistence. The future is the common house we have to build between all of us, by means of dialogue and respect for all rights.

Therefore, the people signing this manifesto, are not only talking about the 47 people who will be judged in September. The people, the agents and the institutions living in the country conform an open and plural society, eager to continue the path undertaken. For this reason, by means of the present text, in addition to denouncing the open judicial process, we adhere to the  demonstration called on September 14 in Bilbao.

Let us convert this judgment that wants to take us to the past in a door to the future. Let’s continue making our way. Releasing the future is everyone’s business.
